Samoset Council, Boy Scouts of America

The local Scouts participate in the Scouting for Food Drive every April and they collected hundreds of pounds of food for local food pantries. Those working on the Eagle Scout Award provide large community service projects. Just this year we had one Scout that completed a restoration project on the west sensory garden at the Wildwood Zoo and another renovated the exterior of St. Paul’s Church in Marshfield.

One Scout’s story: “My biggest thing that I have realized throughout my life (and Scouting has really brought it out of me) is my need to help others. Whether that be participating in my community’s Memorial Day Parade or assisting in cleaning up Camp Tesomas for the summer camping season. If I can make a positive impact in any sort of way it means the world to me. I’ve found within myself that if I am not assisting another person I feel a sense of disappointment in myself. I’ve always enjoyed benefiting others and that is the reason that I enjoy Scouting so much. It is solely based on the betterment of others.”
